…Of course this is symplistic, pe ce ne sont pas les 0 et 1 qu’on traduit, mais la présence et non-présence de quelque chose qui a été symbolisé par des 0 et 1’s groupé par huit…

…To understand AI better I assisted in The Reading Room #43: Re-writing / Re-reading, a workshop on and with AI, led by Jonathan Chaim Reus and Varia Rotterdam on March 22 2022…

…After the workshop I tried to generate French text on “traduction” and when I saw that didn’t work I continued with only English. In the end I chose two “poems” that were translated and read out loud by students of translation studies, while I danced on them…

Are their translations the result of Intra-action? Est-ce que l’IA peut être un outil pour une traduction diffractive …. ? Is the human processing of the AI texts producing moments of diffractive thoughts to appear?

Utterings is a collaborative attempt to go beyond the borders and closures created by languages, opening up and transgressing these in a performance that probes meaning through pre-language communication and formerly un-inhabited expressions.
In Utterings communication is not approached as a transmission of information, ruled by code or abstract conventions, but as connection through affection, attention, glitches and even voids.

a pretty pathetic

On the 20th of June 2019 at 3:30pm (UTC+01:00) during my talk with/in languages – a pretty pathetic @ the Language INTER Networks conference in Lancaster, I danced to Lou Sarabadzic‘s reading of an extract of Hito Steyerl’s International Disco Latin.

Daniel Temkin – Reading as Writing, Coding as Public Performance
